And now we see a recall from Toyota, again

This year has been for the automotive department. There a lot of recalls. Perhaps one of the most high profile of automotive recalls so far this year was the notorious Toyota recall involving a defective accelerator pedal. If the automaker can be credited for one thing, it is consistency, as another Toyota recall is in effect. You will find less vehicles affected by this recall. Only a few model years on two different cars offered by the automaker have the defect in question. Although it is small, Toyota will get hurt since it is nevertheless trying to get better after the recall from before.

An additional Toyota recall

Toyota has made many recalls. A new Toyota recall is in full swing as new Toyota recalls are regular. The problem being addressed by this Toyota recall is with the engines in more than 1.3 million cars. The engine control module needs fixing. The engine problem makes it so the motor won’t start with a stall while driving. Also, says CNN, shifting could be affected as well. The problem has caused a couple of accidents.

Fix 1 million cars needing help

The Toyota Corolla and also the Toyota Matrix are the two models being recalled. There are only a couple of specific years too. These are from 2005 to 2008. The defect within the 1ZZ-FE engine is within the circuit board within the Engine Control Module, where the circuit board can crack. This defect affects the shifting and can cause the engine to shut off while driving. It might be hard to start the engine as well. 1.13 million vehicles within the U.S. are likely going to be within the recall when Canada has another 200,000 automobiles. After this, Toyota can have recalled 10 million autos this year, says the Los Angeles Times. There is an investigation being run. This is coming from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Toyota can’t do better after market share

U.S. auto sales have had market share kept by Toyota. The lead was tenuous at best, and this may be the straw that breaks the camel’s back. Ford, General Motors, and Chrysler would be happy to take some of those customers back.
