White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs lately slammed a group of individuals he referred to as the “professional left.” Though the quote is indicative of the ambiance of the Oval Office recently, it makes one pine for the days when the highly quotable Dan Quayle was around.
Gibbs hates the left once they get picked in the draft
The “professional left,” as Press Secretary Robert Gibbs put it, have yet to be satisfied with anything Obama has done as president. He said these people would only be happy with health care like Canada and with the Pentagon done away with, in an interview with The Hill. He also said anyone exactly who compared Obama with George Bush should be “drug tested.” He continued that they wouldn’t be happy “even if Dennis Kucinich was President.”
Just who are these individuals?
A lot of liberals and progressives were less than thrilled that he ditched the public option and has done little on LGBT issues. Some say the White House has not taken a proactive enough role in repealing Don’t Ask Do not Tell. . The interview was published today Gibbs was conspicuously absent from the White House press conference that day. Gibbs was reported as being sick, as outlined by Bill Burton who was his temporary replacement.
Not exactly up to par
Though the exact demographic Robert Gibbs was lampooning was not entirely clear, what it was he objected to was clear. The fact is that no matter what an elected official does, it is never good enough for some people, and others just love to complain.
