Drug trafficking occurs within auto dealerships

According to Automotive news, employees or owners of auto dealerships are letting drug trafficking happen within the company. A new meaning is brought to the phrase “parts in parts” when marijuana is found amongst a shipment of parts.

According to DealershipForum.com, Maryland police lately seized 120 pounds of marijuana (worth $ 1.6 million) from a local Honda/Volkswagen dealership. An employee in the parts department reported to are paid $ 100 for every delivery made. He was in charge of passing this to the dealer. A Detroit-area Mopar Parts Distribution Center was found to have 10 pound bricks of marijuana with a batch of wiper blades, reports Automotive News. It is really that difficult to get good help that is not going to get you in trouble legally?

More auto dealership hijinks

Think these are isolated cases? Think about this for a minute. The former Huling Brothers Auto Center of Seattle had quite a bit of illegal drug dealing happening in it, reports the Seattle Times. As outlined by Fox 29 WFLX of Hollywood, Fla., a “massive drug trafficking business” was happening in a Florida auto dealership that was run by Nova Motor Groups’ owner, Richard Carlson. Apparently Carlson stashed cocaine in SUVs that were shipped to Sweden. At Midway Motors of Abington, Mass., Finance Manager Duane Glenn and two others were arrested for selling cocaine to an undercover officer. They also had been selling marijuana.

John DeLorean and his story

The DeLorean Motor Company was a high-end auto manufacturer that made distinctive gull-winged, stainless-steel luxury sports cars from 1975 until about 1982, when the company went bankrupt. The DeLorean DMC-12 was an American pop culture gem of the 1980s, but John DeLorean nevertheless had trouble maintaining operating capital. According to reports, DeLorean was filmed in what appeared to be a drug trafficking transaction, where he accepted money in exchange for the illicit substance. DeLorean went free because there seemed to have been some entrapment.
